Mahinaz ELMESSIRY, a renowned Egyptian Artist and Interior designer, started her career in Paris, where she studied Arts at Ecole du Louvre and Interior design at Greta des Arts Appliqués. There, she executed several design projects.

In 2001, after returning to Egypt, she continued her career as an interior designer with a new approach and philosophy, inspired by her different trips around the world. Mahinaz executed different projects in houses, apartments, shops, and companies. Her latest project was designing the office of the international company LSG sky chefs – a German company based in Egypt.

10 years ago, inspired by the ethnicity and Culture of the different regions in Egypt, she started developing her own home accessories line. She would create several collections, each representing a different cultural and hereditary region in Egypt. Mahinaz firmly believes that the Egyptian heritage should be documented and present in every Egyptian house.

These collections present Egypt’s heritage in a modernised and practical way, manifested by beautiful, artistic decorative pieces. Her collections were displayed in many countries and cities around the world, amongst which are London and Paris.

Mahinaz ELMESSIRY worked with different NGOs through the National Council for Women and the Ministry of Communication to ameliorate the designs of local handcrafters. She also gave counseling sessions for these local women about design, production and marketing.

Inspired by Art, Mahinaz gave several lectures about the History of Art and Egyptian cultural heritage at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and abroad, to engage with a larger audience.

Next to all these projects, Mahinaz dedicated a lot of time for the future generation of artists in Egypt. On the one hand she held several workshops about art in orphanages, on the other hand she held a weekly class to share her knowledge with who she always believed to be the artists of the future.

Mahinaz has also founded the charity organization ‘tayara warak’, which aims to support children’s talents and (cultural) knowledge through the effective participation of relevant institutions and individuals from civil society.
